Florence

$44.00

Florence was born with some extra challenges that her friends didn’t have. She couldn’t run as fast as them at recess, and it always took her longer to walk up the stairs to get to the classroom.

Her mom told her repeatedly that she was just like the other kids, but Florence knew better.

What she did know was that she liked to paint. She could paint all day, which was good, since the time after school and weekends were mostly spent in her room or at the kitchen table with her watercolors. She was too tired to do much outside, so she would paint and talk with her mom about her classmates and what they were working on in math.

Her home was covered in the paintings Florence made. Her mom told her they were the most beautiful things she had ever seen. That, Florence decided, she would believe.
