Adeline

The twists and turns of her life has left Adeline wise and with a weathered heart that has known joy and too much sorrow.

You’ll find her most mornings at her favorite Paris cafe dipping her cafe au lait and chocolate croissant. Then a leisurely walk to Parc des Buttes-Chaumont to watch the little children play.

She was never blessed with children of her own, and with her aching joints and post menopausal body, she is far beyond the consideration of little feet scampering through her home.

The rise and fall of shrieks and laughter bring fullness to her heart this Tuesday morning as two little boys run past her to get to the slide. The sun is peaking out of the clouds; a nice rain shower petered out early this morning.

As the early morning turns to late morning, Adeline continues her trek through the cobblestone streets, by antique shops and booksellers. She buys herself a bouquet of spring blossoms from the corner shop and makes plans for the afternoon.

Maybe a nap? Or work on another chapter of her novel? With the slight breeze in the air, she opens her kitchen window that looks out to her backyard. It is small and one may say over crowded with plants, but it is her sanctuary. And what is that on her potted tomato plant? It’s a Robin perched on the wire structure surrounding the small sprout below.

And just like that, she has an idea for the next chapter….
