Jacob

Jacob has it all planned out.

Pink Rice Krispie treats for Raven’s 3rd grade Valentine’s Day party, bracelets for the whole JV basketball team in shades of reds and pinks for Mia’s teammates and coaches, and watermelon heart pops for Charlotte’s toddler playtime group.

After he makes the older girls lunches of homemade sushi, edamame, Babybel cheese and oat and flaxseed granola bars (homemade as well), Jacob takes a quick shower followed up by his hair and beard routine.

Yeah, he knows he only has school drop off before his Peloton ride during Charlotte’s nap, but he has a certain reputation with the other moms. Being the only stay at home dad, Jacob relishes the attention. And he loves this life more than he ever imagined.

He is the class dad, the parent who makes the Halloween costumes, loves loves loves to coordinate the matching outfits for their semi annual family photos.

How did he get so lucky with these awesome kids and even better wife? Lauren is fine with him doing all the grocery shopping, meal planning and laundry. She doesn’t have a strong opinion with how he loads the dishwasher or makes itineraries for vacations.

He talks through Raven’s day on the way to the high school to get Mia. The Valentines they made together for the class were a hit. After practice, Mia tells of her day as well. She received three carnations at school from the fundraiser they had. Charlotte listens to her sisters as she works on a leftover watermelon pop.

Then home and final touches on Valentine’s Day dinner. Heart shaped (homemade) chicken nuggets with spinach Mac and cheese for the girls. His famous portobello mushroom lasagna for the adults. Chocolate covered strawberries will be the treat for all his girls.

What could be better? Well, St Patrick’s Day is coming up… tomorrow he will start planning.
